Have a Green Halloween!

Halloween is almost upon us... but how you can you make your Halloween a 'Green Halloween'!
It's quite likely that you have got all sorts of decorations, costumes and other items that you only need for the day. Some things you can of course keep for next year, however, there are also some things that you won't need again, so here are some ideas of how to recycle rather than throwing them away.
Pumpkin Recycling
Did you know that an estimated 15 million pumpkins are binned in the UK every year! We recycle your pumpkins, but you first need to find your monster strength and 'SMASH IT then FOOD CADDY IT!'. Your pumpkin will be turned into fertiliser and energy with the rest of the food waste we collect. Please make sure the pumpkin fits into your outdoor caddy as we cannot take whole pumpkins.

Halloween Costumes
If you like to dress up you can make lots of great costumes from things you have around the house. Hold onto the items and add them to the dressing up box for future use. Rather than buy a one-use costume think about buying an outfit you could wear more than once. Face paints, hats and headpieces are a great way to make ordinary outfits feel like part of the costume - there's no need to buy disposable outfits then which can impact on the climate.
It's easier than you think to make a costume with things you already have, instead of buying a one-use item. Of course it takes a bit of time - but that's where all the fun is!
