Great Torrington shop owners, businesses and community groups are invited to a meeting on 3rd June from 5.30 pm at the recently refurbished Pannier Market. At the event, attendees will hear from the Great Torrington Regeneration Board as they unveil their much-anticipated strategy, new branding and website, and share more about the Board's progress so far, and find out how they can get involved in shaping the future of the town.

Initiated in July 2023 as part of Devon County Council's Urban Renewal Programme, Torridge District Council, Great Torrington Town Council and key stakeholders in the area met to create a Regeneration Board and form a strategic approach to putting the 'Great' into Great Torrington.

The progress with the website is seen as a key part in delivering that strategy, giving the community a place to share details of their businesses, organisations and events with each other, and attract visitors to the town. The rebranding and restructure of the site gives the town a fresh, modern look which is easier for the community to use and promote themselves to a keen audience.

The new events page will be used to create a robust marketing plan designed to promote the area and attract new business and visitors to the town. Visitors will be encouraged to visit the site, www.great-torrington.uk, and see how easy it is to upload their details or event to the site for free.

The event will highlight progress so far, including recent updates to the Pannier Market which enables more flexible usage and significant investment supporting The Globe Project. Attendees will also learn about sponsorship opportunities for the new Tarka the Otter Trail which promises to be a great attraction for locals and visitors alike.

Phil Cloke, Mayor of Great Torrington, emphasised the importance of collective support for the town.

"Great Torrington, like so many towns across the UK, needs us all to contribute. Businesses, clubs and individuals can all make a huge difference to the success of the town. The Regeneration Board has a clear set of priorities which it is working through, and this event gives the community and businesses a great opportunity to get involved. They will learn more about the updated website, how it is evolving, and how they can contribute to it to promote their businesses, clubs and events. Remember, it's free to participate and will not only help the individual, but the town and community as a whole. This is another step towards driving ' Great' Torrington forward!"

If you would like to attend, please RSVP by end of day Friday 30th May: great-torrington@torridge.gov.uk as places are limited.
