Torridge District Council recruits special helpers for Christmas recycling campaign!
This year, the council proudly welcomed four inspiring helpers to champion its Christmas waste minimisation and recycling campaign. Ava, Rosa, Reggie, and Oakley teamed up with Teresa from the Waste and Recycling Team at Riverbank House, Bideford to learn more about recycling by playing a series of games.
The children proudly showcased their favourite Christmas outfits as they teamed up to sort through a variety of items that many households gather during the festive season. With Teresa's help, they worked together to place the different items into the appropriate bags or boxes. Teresa also explained the importance of "washing and squashing" and minimising waste before recycling.
The fab four had a great time assisting Teresa and each other with sorting the recycling. It's important to note that the children were always fully supervised during this activity. While the council recognises the value of involving children in recycling, please do not allow children to recycle without adult supervision.

Councillor Chris Leather, Lead Member for Operational Services, said;
"I think it's wonderful that we have initiatives aimed at educating future generations about the importance of waste minimisation and recycling. The Waste and Recycling team regularly participates in local shows, events and visits to schools as part of its recycling education program.
It's clear that the four children had a fantastic time. I would like to thank everyone involved in organising this event, especially Ava, Rosa, Reggie, and Oakley, for their time and commitment. I hope they all have a wonderful Christmas!"
