Tributes paid to ex Torridge Councillor Betty Boundy who has sadly passed away
Tributes have been paid to ex Torridge Councillor Betty Boundy who has sadly passed away. Betty was elected in 2015 and served a four-year term as ward member for Winkleigh. While at the Council Betty sat on the Audit and Governance and Standards Committee and was a committed and active lead member for Health and Wellbeing and Community Safety.
The flag at Riverbank House in Bideford will be flying at half-mast in respect and the Council would like to extend their condolences to Betty's family and friends at this sad time.
Steve Hearse - Chief Executive of Torridge District Council said:
"I have fond memories of Betty during her time at the Council. She was a lovely lady who also represented her community passionately. My condolences to her family and friends."
Councillor Philip Hackett - Broadheath Ward said:
"It is with great sadness that I have learnt of the passing of Betty Boundy. Betty was my vice chair on the Audit and Governance Committee and was a valued and conscientious member. In addition, Betty was Lead Member for Health and Wellbeing and sat on the Police and Crime Panel for two years before I took over the roles from her. Betty, a former nurse, was a kind and generous person who quietly strove to achieve the best for her community despite being challenged by ongoing health issues. A lovely, loyal self-effacing person, always with a kind word and a smile. I will remember her fondly."
Councillor Simon Inch - Bideford South Ward said:
"I'm saddened to hear this news. Betty was a lovely kind and caring lady and I have fond memories of her in council. She was very passionate about her constituents and her ward of Winkleigh. I send my condolences to her family at this time."
Councillor Rosemary Lock - Two Rivers and Three Moors Ward said:
"I have some great memories of serving on the council with Betty and because our wards were next to each other we often met socially as well. She was a very caring person and worked tirelessly for her ward."
Councillor Jane Whittaker - Northam Ward said:
"I was very sad to hear the news about the passing of Betty Boundy, she was such a lovely lady and a very committed colleague during the time I worked alongside her. My condolences to her family and friends, I can imagine how much she will be missed."
