Active Torridge host their first School's Swimming Gala

On Tuesday 13^th June Active Torridge held their first inter-school swimming gala at Torridge Leisure Centre in Northam. The gala saw over 120 children from seven different schools compete in a day of events and races, culminating in an awards ceremony. Kingsley School finished top in the overall team standings with St Margarets and Shebbear College not far behind in second and third and Appledore in fourth place. The final table positions were filled by three schools who all finished in joint fifth place, Buckland Brewer, Parkham and Woolsery.

"It was a great event and hopefully the first of many, particularly given that the feedback from the children and teachers involved was so positive. The majority of the schools who took part swim with Active Torridge at one of our centres for their school swimming lessons. It was great to provide them with the opportunity to test out their skills competing against one another at the hosted event. I want to thank all the schools and the Active Torridge team for ensuring the event was such a success and we would like to invite those schools that did not attend this year, to join us next year, for an even bigger and better event."
