Local trades people wanted to help with construction of Appledore Clean Maritime Innovation Centre

Torridge District Council, in conjunction with BAM Construction, will be hosting an event at St Mary's Church Hall in Appledore, on Tuesday 22 October 2024 to identify local trades people to help with the construction of its Appledore Clean Maritime Innovation Centre.

Expected to open in 2026, the Centre will feature cutting edge research and industry partnerships, supporting innovation in fields including: clean propulsion; maritime cyber security; aquaculture and environmental intelligence.  The site will include flexibly designed innovation workshops and offices to enable businesses to undertake sector-leading Research and Development, and a new Quay Wall allowing direct access to the Estuary.

With construction anticipated to start early next year, local trades are needed in the following areas:

• Piling, Groundworks and Retaining Wall
• Steel Frame
• Roofing and Cladding
• Masonry
• Windows, Doors, Rollers and Shutters
• Firestopping
• Drilling, Cutting, Sawing, Mastic
• Partitions, Ceilings and SFS
• Joinery
• Painting and Decorating
• IPS and Hygienic Wall Cladding
• Soft Flooring
• Signage
• Surfacing and Road Marking
• Fencing and Hoading
• Scaffolding (NASC Approved Only)
