Business Rates Freedom of Information requests (Data Sets)

Defective light bulb icon

The Council receives a high number of requests under the Freedom of Information Act in respect of Non-Domestic properties

As we receive a high volume of  FOI Requests concerning business rated properties in Torridge, we are now providing information as data sets.

A spreadsheet containing details of all non-domestic properties, together with the type and amount of relief that has been applied, will be updated on a quarterly basis and added to this page.

Limitations on data

  • We are not publishing personal data relating to individuals such as sole traders, partnerships etc.
  • The ratepayer is the person liable to pay the charge. In many cases this may be a leaseholder rather than an owner.
  • Account reference numbers are not included as these are personal to the individual account.

This data set will be updated on a quarterly basis and the Council is unable to provide the information outside of this timescale or in a different format.  The information held in this data set can be queried or sorted as necessary.

Business Rate Credits & Write-ons

The Council has made the decision to no longer publish the details of individual business rates credits. Following careful consideration of the ICO decision for Wandsworth Council (FS50619844) and discussions with the Council's Revenues team which holds this data, the Council considers that the continued publication of this data would be likely to prejudice the prevention and detection of crime and therefore the Council considers that this data is now exempt from disclosure under Section 31(1)(a).
