Bulky item collections
Overview
DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE WAIT TIME FOR COLLECTIONS THE BULKY COLLECTION SERVICE IS NOW CLOSED UNTIL 2ND JANUARY 2025. YOUR LOCAL RECYCLING CENTRES ARE ABLE TO TAKE MANY ITEMS FOR FREE. FOR ANY QUERIES THEIR NUMBER IS 0345 155 1010. The council will collect bulky household items. All bulky items must be placed at the kerbside for collection; our crews are not able to collect items from inside homes, garages or in gardens. Please note that Fridges and Freezers are charged per item and we are unable to collect American style fridge freezers, range cookers/agas or chest freezers due to weight constrictions. We may not be able to collect other very large items due to weight and size restrictions so please enquire if you think this applies.
If you wish to have any items collected, please use the online payment form or call us on 01237 428700, option 3. This service is only available to residents who pay council tax in the Torridge area. Please see prices below.
When your payment has cleared you will be contacted by email (if provided) or phone to confirm when the collection will take place. Your bulky items should be placed out with your normal domestic refuse (by 5.45am or the night before) with the exception of any white goods, metal items and sofas which are collected on a separate vehicle. White goods, metal items and sofas must be placed out by 7am on the day of collection.
The Recycling Centre at Caddsdown Business Centre in Bideford, the Recycling Centre at Deep Moor Torrington and the Recycling Centre at Anvil Corner at Holsworthy will accept items for free.
Collection days can change due to Bank Holidays and Christmas.
