Torridge District Council introduces new recycling campaign to boost recycling rates

Torridge District Council has launched a new campaign to help make household recycling easier. The Council currently recycles over 50 percent of the waste produced in the district and is continuously aiming to increase this amount. The "Room by Room Recycling Guide" aims to encourage this by helping educate residents on sustainable waste management by showing them what recyclable items can be found in their homes.
From Monday 23rd June, a graphic will be released weekly to demonstrate the recyclable items from each of the six household areas: the living-room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, garage and garden. They will also show the lesser-known household items which can also be recycled, such as duvet covers, batteries and small electrical items.
The images will be shared on the Council's website and social media to help residents have a clearer understanding on what to recycle and which item goes in which box/bag.
Councillor Chris Leather, Lead Member for Operational Services at Torridge District Council, said;
"This campaign makes recycling clear and practical for every household by showing how items from each room can be recycled. Anything that can't be recycled should be placed in the black waste bags, which are sent to an energy recovery facility where it is processed to generate renewable energy. We're helping residents make a real difference in Torridge."
