Filming in Torridge - The Director's Cut

Torridge District Council, alongside Screen Devon and North Devon Council, celebrated the launch of their new initiative: 'Filming in Torridge,' on Monday 31st March with a well-attended event at The Royal Hotel in Bideford.
The event brought together an exciting mix of people with strong links to the film industry alongside members of the council, councillors, and property owners to share ideas on how to make Torridge and North Devon a more attractive proposition for film and TV production crews.
Speakers included Claire Horrocks, Manager of Screen Devon and the host of the event, Jon Lockett from Torridge District Council, Steve Hart, a leading Location Manager responsible for bringing several huge productions to Devon, and Giuseppe Rossi, founder of Devon Film Logistics who services productions of all sizes for the area. Between them they presented a united goal to entice more productions to our beautiful and versatile area through improved collaboration and a broader choice of locations and services to support production crews.
This event focused on the development of a locations directory that can be shared with producers and location managers. There are already several established locations across the area, with Clovelly, Harland Abbey and Saunton Sands featuring regularly on productions from large scale feature films to music videos and smaller promotional videos for fashion brands. However, location managers are looking for more.
Producers not only want the beautiful locations we are known for, but often need more versatility including larger, empty buildings such as unused warehouses and office buildings, houses which can double for American or European homes and period properties with unspoiled views.
If you are interested in offering your property as a location for a film or TV production, please email a few images of your property and your contact details to communications@torridge.gov.uk.
Screen Devon are planning another event in North Devon, so keep your eyes peeled for the sequel, coming soon!
Sean Kearney, Head of Communities and Place, Torridge District Council, said:
"What an exciting way to kick-off the week and our new initiative. We heard some fascinating stories from a broad mix of people linked to the Film and TV industry, and were able to begin the process of building a network of locations and people to help make our area even more appealing to production teams from all over the world. This is the first step in what we hope can bring more film and TV crews to Torridge, and the broader benefits including revenue generated by hosting these productions and the longer benefits of screen tourism."
