Discretionary Energy Rebate Payments for Council Tax Support recipients
Discretionary Energy Rebate Scheme for Band E-H properties & £20 Top-up Scheme for Band A-D Properties

Householders in Band E to H properties may qualify for the £150 rebate if the following criteria are met:
- Were in receipt of council tax support on 01st April 2022
Receives one or more of the following exemptions / disregards / reductions:
- Class N - student
- Class S - under 18
- Class W - annex with a dependant relative
- Class U - severely mentally impaired
- Council tax carer's disregard
- Disabled banding reduction
In addition to this a single top up payment of £20.00 will be awarded to the following households who reside in a dwelling with a council tax band A - D as at the 01st April and who are:
- In receipt of council tax support

When will I get the payment?
For the discretionary payments to band E-H properties any residents paying by direct debit will receive the money automatically by week ending 31st July 2022
A letter is being sent to non-direct debit payers in bands E - H, advising how to apply for the payment. They will be able to complete an on-line application form but please note the page may be slow to load due to the number of applications we are expecting in the opening days. We would ask for your patience or to consider returning at another time if you experience any persistent problems. For those residents in A-D properties who meet the above criteria and have already received £150 from the standard scheme they will automatically receive the additional £20 in their bank account. For those who did not apply, the £20 will be credited to their council tax account.
Please do not contact the Council to chase these payments or letters, as we are currently experiencing a high level of calls.
The discretionary scheme will close on 18th September 2022, so please make sure you apply prior to this date.
No awards will be made for any unoccupied premises or second homes.
