Updates for residents and businesses

Parking Permits

Torridge District Council offer a range of permits (Season, Business, Residents and more) to provide cost effective, convenient parking and these can also be purchased online. These pages show the range of permits we offer, as well as additional services we provide such as reserved bays.

Please note that paper permits are no longer issued, and that cash payments for permits will not be accepted.

Note: These permits may be used only in our off street car parks. If you require a permit to park in an on street residents' area please contact Devon County Council. 0345 155 1015

Season Permits

Season permits entitle you to park in all of our long stay car parks with the exception of Westward Ho! (for which permits are only valid from 1st November to 14th March) on any day of the week.

Season permits can be purchased for periods of 1 month, 6 months, or 12 months and provide exceptional value when compared to the daily purchase of a Pay and Display ticket.

Business Permits

Business permits (Monday-Saturday only) are usually the best choice for people who visit our car parks for work, but you don't need to be a business user to purchase one.

Business permits  entitle you to park in all of our long stay car parks with the exception of Westward Ho! (Monday to Saturday).

Business permits can be purchased for periods of 1 month, 6 months, or 12 months and provide exceptional value when compared to the daily purchase of a Pay and Display ticket.

T-Business

T-Business permits are available only to businesses based on The Pill, Bideford and are valid 7 days a week  in The Pill Car Park only. T-Business permits can only be purchased quarterly or annually.

When applying for a T-Business permit, it is important to contact the Parking Office at 01237 428981, or email carparks@torridge.gov.uk before making your application.

Residents

Residents permits are a convenient choice for people who live close to one of our car parks but work elsewhere. Residents permits provide parking before and after work Monday to Saturday ( covering the period between 4pm to 10am), and parking all day Sunday.

Residents permits can only be purchased annually. Potential savings vary according to car park.

Resident's permits will be limited to one per household and are valid in car parks where residents parking is allowed and subject to the following eligibility:

  • Your permanent residence is within the immediate vicinity of your chosen car park.
  • The vehicle must fit wholly in a parking bay.
  • The vehicle is registered at your permanent residence as above or is a company vehicle which you have the use of.

Reserved Bay

Where available, reserved bays are an excellent choice for people who require the exclusive use of a bay, and in addition offer a considerable saving. It should be remembered that purchasing a Pay and Display ticket or any other type of permit does not guarantee access to a reserved bay.

Reserved bays are usually allocated and invoiced annually, but may be allocated with payment made pro rata when vacant.

Please be aware that reserved bays will be allocated to residents as a point of priority over businesses or holiday homes / lets. You will be required to provide proof of residence when applying for a reserved bay.

If you would like to enquire about a reserved bay please contact the Parking Office at 01237 428981, or email carparks@torridge.gov.uk. If a bay is not available at the location you require when you enquire we will be happy to place your details on a waiting list.

Windmill Lane

Windmill Lane Car Park can no longer be used for for the storage of  Motorhomes, caravans or boats.

Online Parking Permit Applications

Please be aware that whilst some permits will allow you to input two registrations at the point of application, only one vehicle registration can be active on the permit at any one time. It is the responsibility of the account holder to ensure that the vehicle being used is the active vehicle on the permit before leaving your vehicle within the car park - this can be done via your online permit account. This is a digital equivalent of moving the physical permit from one vehicle to another.

In order to apply for and purchase one of the Parking Permits detailed above, please visit our dedicated Parking Permit Site.

In order to apply for a parking permit, you will be required to create an account on our permit system. This information is only taken once during account set up, and you can then apply for and manage your parking permit/s and renewals.

If you have any concerns or issues about using the dedicated site, please contact the Parking Office at 01237 428981, or email carparks@torridge.gov.uk.
