Torridge shows commitment to fight climate change!

Following the Council's declaration of a "Climate Emergency" Torridge District Council has held its first Climate Change Working Group meeting.

The meeting Chaired by Councillor Peter Hames, Lead Member for Climate Change with senior representatives from across the Council will provide operational response and delivery of the stated aim that Torridge District Council will achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.  The Working Group will review and mitigate climate related risks and develop climate related opportunities for the Council and its communities working in partnership where appropriate.

The Chair of the Working Group and Lead Member for Climate Change Councillor Peter Hames said: "climate change is our most important challenge, not just locally but nationally and worldwide. By creating this Working Group, we can ensure we are focused on taking action and making the decisions needed to deliver our commitment to carbon neutrality by 2030 at the latest and in turn helping to protect our planet for the future.  Regular reports and information will be provided to Councillors, our residents and our businesses"
