Shake off those Winter Blues! - Free events at Northam Burrows Country Park

Volunteer Event 2019

The Rangers at Northam Burrows Country Park are encouraging everybody to go outside and enjoy the great outdoors in 2019. To help people explore the park and learn about the local environment they will be running a series of free events this winter. There will be guided walks, wildlife activities and a couple of special volunteer events where participants can help to look after the valuable habitats found on Northam Burrows.

The first event will be a Rake and Burn volunteer day, held on Monday the 14th of January from 10am-4pm, where the Rangers are looking for help to clear bramble and rushes from the coastal grassland to encourage wildflowers to grow in the summertime.

Jane Whittaker - Leader of Torridge District Council and Lead Member for Culture and Leisure said:

'Northam Burrows is a spectacular site and a wonderful place to visit at any time of the year. The event programme is designed to help visitors explore this special place and enjoy everything on offer. The volunteer events are especially important as they mean that we can continue to encourage new growth of rare plants, protect habitats and encourage biodiversity. It's also a great way to connect with the area and other like minded people and the Rangers are always grateful for the invaluable assistance volunteers are able to provide."
