Councillors donate £800 for new equipment at Bideford Rugby Club

Bideford Rugby Club

Bideford Councillors Tony Inch and Mervyn Langmead have each donated £400 from their 2017/18 Councillor grants to Bideford Rugby club, which has been used to buy new match balls for the club.

Founded in 1926 the club is a thriving focal point for Rugby in the town with four senior men's teams as well as multiple youth, ladies and mini teams. With nearly 500 members across the club the match balls are a significant recurring expense.

Councillor Mervyn Langmead said:

"Both Tony and I were really pleased to be donating this money to the club which continues to go from strength to strength. The membership across different age groups, sexes and abilities is a great example of how inclusive the sport can be and we hope that our small contribution will be put to good use right across all of the teams."

Lester Bird - Chair of Bideford RFC said:

"The grants from Councillors Inch and Langmead are a very welcome contribution towards the clubs ongoing running costs. In this case we've used the money to buy match balls from which all the teams will benefit. I would like to thank Mervyn and Tony and indeed the Council in general for their continuing support"
