Council to complete consolidation and upgrade of its internet services this weekend

Data Centre July 16

on Saturday 13th May engineers will be moving the Councils internet link and network equipment from Bridge Buildings to Riverbank House in Bideford.

The relocation of the Councils internet hub is part of Torridge's "Transformation Programme" which has been designed to reduce costs and deliver savings to address reductions in Government grants and funding and ultimately to protect front line services. The relocation of the Councils internet infrastructure is intended to provide a more resilient service and a platform for delivering a wider range of Council services online. It coincides with the Councils intention of moving to a single site in the future with new buildings already under construction at Riverbank.

As a result of the move, the Councils online services, including the website and planning portal will be temporarily unavailable for periods during the day. However all services should be fully operational by the end of the day once the move is complete.

TDC Strategic Manager - Steve Hearse said:

"This is the final phase of moving our IT infrastructure to Riverbank and everything is in place for this to be implemented. While there may be some intermittent disruption to online services while this is undertaken the process has been carefully planned to minimise this. We would like to thank the public in advance for bearing with us while we while we undertake this essential work and expect services to be fully restored by the end of Saturday."
