Autumn Guided Walks & Events 2019

Due to popular demand the Halloween Trail will remain in place until the 4th of November.

Information on Northam Burrows events this Autumn.

What's On

Not just a summer destination, the Burrows is teeming with wildlife all year round and there are always surprises instore for visitors at this time of year.  This Autumn we have created a programme of guided walks and events to help you explore the park as the seasons change.

Burrows History Walk-22nd of October, 2-4pm

Dave Edgcombe from the North Devon Coast AONB will be leading a guided history walk from the visitor centre to the estuary mouth to look at all the heritage features that can be discovered along this stretch of coast. This event is being run as part of the Coastal Heritage Project and is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Burrows Bird Walk-24th of October, 2-4pm

Join us for a guided bird walk on Northam Burrows. From the visitor centre we will take a gentle stroll across the park to the Skern. This is a great chance to see the winter migrant species that take shelter on the Burrows during this time of year.

Half Term Halloween Trail-19th to the 27th of October *******(Due to popular demand this has been extended and will remain in place until the 4th of November) 

During October half term we will be running a spooky self led trail across the park. Come and collect the trail leaflet from the Burrows Centre or download it here pdf icon Half Term Halloween Trail [519kb]

Rake and Burn - 26th of November, 10am-4pm

Join the rangers for a day of raking and burning vegetation in the park to help improve conditions for the rare plants and animals that live there. This is a great opportunity to get involved in some important nature conservation. Booking essential.

Find RAF Northam - 5th of December -10am-4pm

Join the Rangers and experts from the North Devon AONB's Coastal heritage project to clear scrub and grass away from the remains of the WWII radar station and install new information boards. Booking essential. Meet at Appledore entrance to the Burrows.

Finding RAF Northam (part 2) - 15th of January - 10pm-4pm

Join the Rangers and experts from the North Devon AONB's Coastal heritage project to reveal the foundations and base blocks of the WWII radar station which have become overgrown. Booking essential. Meet at Appledore entrance to the Burrows.

Building Devon Hedgebanks -date TDC

A day of building sections of Devon hedgebanks with expert guidance.
