Councillor Grants Scheme

Voluntary and community groups serving residents in the Torridge District area are encouraged to apply for grants under this scheme.

The Councillor Grants Scheme (formerly Councillor Community Grants) enables Councillors to support projects benefiting residents in their ward, and each Councillor has been allocated a budget of £2,000 for 2019-20. The scheme enables Councillors to support local groups within their communities even more, and to become more involved with local projects at a grass roots level.

Community Grant

Councillors are able to join up with other ward Councillors to support a wider project, and can offer up to 100% of the total project costs. Councillors may choose to award the whole of their £2,000 budget to one project, or break the fund down into smaller grants to a number of different projects.  Grants which have been given in recent years, ranging from £100 to £1,000, have contributed to buying equipment for youth and community groups, including sports clubs, as well as supporting arts and heritage festivals and other one-off events.

It is possible in some cases for grant money to support projects which are running a crowdfunding appeal. In this way the grant money can be combined with contributions - big and small - from other sources. Further information can be found here:

If you are interested in applying to the Scheme please contact the appropriate ward Councillor in the first instance. If you are unsure which Councillor represents your area please e-mail peter.soper@torridge.gov.uk or ring 01237 428700.
