Supporting Material

Alongside the documents of the Local Plan that guide and shape development within the area, there are a range of formal supporting documents that help guide it's preparation and monitor it's implementation.

The following key documents support the preparation and implementation of the Local Plan:

Provides information on how the community can have their say on the preparation of the Local Plan and major planning applications.

Outlines the timetable for what documents will be produced as part of the Local Plan and when.

Details how the production of the Local Plan documents is progressing and how well the policies are performing.

Provides a framework against which the policies and proposals of the Local Plan can be assessed in terms of Social, Economic and Environmental Sustainability.

The preparation of the Local Plan has been informed by a substantial evidence base, which has been submitted with the Local Plan for examination.

  • Timetable (Local Development Scheme)

The Local Development Scheme (LDS) sets out the timetable for the documents that will be prepared as part of the Local Plan. It provides a starting point to find out what planning policy documentation the Council will be producing and at what stage you can become involved and have your say.

  • Authority Monitoring Report (AMR)

The Authority Monitoring Report (AMR) is an important part of the Local Plan system as part of a Plan, Monitor and Manage approach.

  • Strategic Environmental Assessment and Sustainability Appraisal

Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) has been introduced to the UK through the EU Directive 2001 / 42 / EC, and in England the Directive has been implemented via the Environmental Assessment of Plans and Programmes Regulations 2004. SEA is a systematic process for the evaluation of the likely environmental consequences of proposed policies, plans or programmes in order to ensure that environmental issues are fully integrated and assessed at the earliest appropriate stage of decision making.
