The Icon for pdf Empty Homes Strategy 2012-2015 [585.37KB] sets out how Torridge District Council takes a proactive approach to address the problem of long-term empty properties. In doing so it will bring back into use valuable housing stock that is affordable.

If you know of an empty property please report it to us in one of the following ways:

1) Telephone Housing Renewal Team on (01237) 428700

2) Email:

Any information about the ownership or history of the property you can provide would also be of use.

Empty Homes Toolkit for Parish and Town Councils

An innovative approach to the problem of empty homes was launched on 22nd January 2014.  It uses the local knowledge and presence on the ground of Town and Parish Councils in Torridge.

This Toolkit has been produced with a checklist that guides councils through a six step process which will enable them to advise local owners of how to return their empty properties back into use and to provide Torridge Council information about risks, costs and benefits of further action.

It is hoped that this approach will be of benefit to the District Council, the Town & Parish councils and landowners with a property currently standing empty.
